MEYCO Kaindl early strength testing MEYCO Penetration Neeedle for early strength testing

Overview

MEYCO Measuring Techniques for early strength determination. The MEYCO measuring instruments allow the measurement the early strength of shotcrete and gunite objectively and quickly on site. It must be possible to measure the early strength easily and accurately at any time when faulty production is suspected, without disturbing the work flow in the driving of headings.

In addition, these measuring devices allows a continuous quality control. Although methods are known to determine on one hand the setting behaviour (Vicat needle) and on the other hand strengths above 10 N/mm2 (drill cares, rebound tester) .

It is, however, impossible to measure strengths in the intermediate range by these methods and instruments. The strength analysis of gunite and shotcrete gunned into test forms does provide valid results, but in view of rebound they usually deviate fram results in practice. In any case, measuring the early strength on the job is preferable. For these reasons the MEYCO measuring technique is unique and is mentioned in the SIA Standards V 198/7 and the Guideline on Shotcrete 1989, published by the Austrian Concrete Society.

Field of application

One of the most important criteria for the effectivness of gunite or shotcrete is their strength during the first few hours after the application. For that reason the MEYCO measuring equipment ist designed to monitor the early strength progress of sprayed martar and sprayed concrete as early as possible. Whether tunneling, protecting building pits ar far repair work with the MEYCO measuring technique, shotcrete jobs can be supervised and controlled from the very beginning.
